Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

ATTENTION: Due to the multiple types of platforms and variations of firearms in the market, Dagger Defense will not attempt to give you specific guidance on specific firearm configurations.  If you have any questions unique to a specific firearm, it is highly recommended you seek the guidance of a licensed instructor or gunsmith. Some questions such as “how to zero” your sights are best answered in person on an instructional basis.  These are skills that need to be learned with hands on training and not via digital correspondence.

Please treat every firearm as it is loaded and always seek professional instruction on how to properly handle firearms. Only you are responsible for how you handle your firearms, please seek professional training for your safety and others.

Red Dots:

Q: My reticle seems “blurry” or “double”, how can I fix this?

A: A common issue is simply the battery.  Even new batteries can be faulty and underpowered.  Try using a high grade battery and then leave the unit on for about 5-10 minutes to reset.

Q: My red dot will not turn on, why?

A: There are a few reasons.  Sometimes the battery it came with may be undercharged (even when new), try a different battery.  Also, sometimes the battery connectors in the battery compartment need to be slightly bent out a little more for better tension against the battery.  Try bending them out slightly and try again.

Q: My zero on my single lens red dot does not hold, what should I do?

A: The Dagger Defense open design, single lens (not tubed sights) come with a set screw located on the right side of the mounting bracket.  The set screw is very small and works with the smaller hex wrench supplied with the red dot. Most of the single lens red dots come set from the factory, however, if the zero does not hold, turn the set screw 1-2 times clockwise and this should hold your zero.

ATTENTION! Do NOT turn the set screw until it is “tight”!  The set screw is not meant to be tightened and will not tighten, it is only meant to be turned 1-2 times clockwise.  “Tightening” the set screw may damage the unit and have the opposite effect. ONLY use the set screw if needed, do NOT use it if your zero holds just to get “extra” security, this is not how this works.

Q: What is the MOA of your red dots?

A: Due to the fade adjustment feature, the MOA ranges from 2-5 MOA.

Q: How tight should I torque the mounting screws to mount my red dot?

A: Not much at all, a simple “snug” fit is only required.  There is no need to muscle the screws in, doing so risks stripping the screws.

Q: Will your red dots fit on handguns?

A: The red dots require standard 1913 picatinny rails for mounting.  If your firearm does not have one, it will not fit.

Q: How do I tighten my quick detach lever?

A: Unlatch the lever to the open position, tighten the bolt located on the other side and try mounting until you achieve your desired tension.

BUIS:

Q: My Dagger Defense spring loaded BUIS is hard to deploy, the button is really stiff, what can I do?

A: For best performance, apply your choice of light lubricant such as gun oil to all the moving parts and move the parts back and forth to work in the oil.  This should help with the action.

Q: My BUIS does not stay in the horizontal position on my rail, how can I fix this?

A: The push button on the spring loaded BUIS doubles as a retention adjustment as well.  You can turn the button clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the retention as it sits on your rail.

Q: No matter how far out I set the front sight post, I cannot zero the BUIS, why?

Q: What does it mean to “co-witness”?

A: There are multiple methods, here is a video to assist: https://youtu.be/5tJW_lYhzKo

Q: Is there a better method to sight in the red dot?

A: If learning how to zero in a red dot, it is best to seek professional instruction in person.  Here is a quick video that simply gives and overview and should not substitute actual, in-person instruction: https://youtu.be/j1SqzoWt6zs

Q: What is the warranty on my Dagger Defense item?

A: The warranty is one year from the date of purchase.  To claim a warranty, you will need to be the original owner (no second hand purchases permitted) and have a copy of your receipt.  Send the receipt with a description of the issue to: sales@defensefirearms.com

A: Dagger Defense is online only.

Q: I own a store and want to carry Dagger Defense products, how do I do that?

A: Contact: sales@defensefirearms.com and provide proof of business such as business license FFL, etc.

Q: My keymod rail will not fit on my handguard, the bolts and screws are the wrong size, why?

A: There are primarily three types of mounting methods for picatinny rail sections, which are not interchangeable, keymod, M-lok and MOE.  PLEASE, research which mounting hardware your handguard requires before purchasing a rail set, do NOT assume. For example, if you have an M-lok handguard, your keymod rail set will NOT work and vice versa.

Q: How tight do I need to screw my rail sections on?

A: Only until snug, no need to muscle the screws in and risk stripping them.
